Wilco Rocks
I am admittedly not a huge fan of Wilco (the Album) just yet, but that doesn't mean they don't still put on one of the best live shows around. I had the great fortune of seeing them again last night here in Portland. They brought their usual high-energy show with an excellent mix of their catalog, with lots of Tweety-isms sprinkled in between songs. I always hate it when their show is over and I always look forward to the next one.

They kicked off their latest tour with a 2 night gig here in Milwaukee. (The album cover for "Wilco(The Album)" is shot at a local Milwaukee restaurant.) I saw them on the 2nd night's show and it was a great performance. They had a ton of energy and sounded great. At one point Nels played one of his solos with some heavy distortion on one of their more country sounding songs (the particular song escapes me). I remember thinking that it sounded a little different as he was wailing away. While he was playing, Tweedy was grinning and exchanging looks with other band members. After the song ended Tweedy quipped "The Grand Ole Opry is going to write us complaints over that solo." They also had an impromptu fashion show making fun of Nels' pants. One this is sure, you will be hard pressed to take in a Wilco/Tweedy show and not go home happy.
