Happy Record Store Day.

Kate's collection of LPs is now up to three with today's addition of Lou Reed - Transformer.

I treated myself to the entire White Stripes early 7" collection.

I love Music Millennium, but not today. Crowded, picked over and incredibly long lines. From now on Jackpot will be my first and hopefully only stop on RSD.

  1. I went to Reckless Records on Broadway in Chicago to stand in line 2 hours before the store opened. Once we were inside it was very orderly, as you just handed your wishlist to the volunteers behind the counter and they gathered all of your available choices for you. I'm fortunate to say I went 6 for 6, including the 7" Ed Ved.

  2. Record Store Day last year was ridiculous. Waited in line at the Electric Fetus in Minneapolis for an hour before opening. The line was long enough for me to still be >#200. Waited for 30 minutes when I heard them call #8. Needless to say I left and went to Cheapo Records. No line, the stock was picked over, however I got what I was looking for.

This year, I went to Cheapo again, minutes before opening. About 20 deep. Free for all upon entering. Limited quantity. The Refused LP was snatched before I could get it, but still left with The Tallest Man On Earth, The Misfits and the Tomahawk 3LP collection! Happy RSD indeed.
