Greatest Albums Of All Time (according to me)

In 2003, Rolling Stone published a list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. The 70s had 37% of the records and the 60s had 25%. The Beatles "Sgt. Pepper's" was named the greatest album followed by The Beach Boys "Pet Sounds". Recently, the magazine updated their list of the 500 greatest songs of all time. The 60s and 70s were again represented the heaviest with Bob Dylan's "Like A Rolling Stone" being the greatest song. Not being a fan of either the Beatles or the 60s, I needed to update my own list. For your listening pleasure, check out these timeless recordings.

20. Guns N' Roses - "Appetite For Destruction" (1987)

19. Mr. Bungle - "California" (1999)

18. Led Zeppelin - "III" (1970)

17. Danzig - "Danzig" (1988)

16. Portishead - "Dummy" (1994)

15. Dio - "Holy Diver" (1983)

14. Toadies - "Rubberneck" (1994)

13. AC/DC - "High Voltage (1976)

11. ZZ Top - "Tres Hombres" (1973)

  1. Nice. Iron Maiden = #3 album of all time. haha.

I'd have to give a shout out to Jeff Buckley's "Grace," Radiohead's "OK Computer" and Def Leppard: "Hysteria".

Good call on #1 though. Anything mid 70s-early 80s Floyd is all good in my book.

  2. The most impressive thing about this list, and the biggest change from Dambowy lists of yesteryear, is the appearance of the Stones. It wasn't that long ago I witnessed an anti-Stones, anti-Beatles tirade one beer-soaked night at Chalky's. Of course I couldn't be more pleased about this development. You're half way there.

By the way, I am the walrus.

  3. Fuck The Stones. They killed a guy at Altamont.

  4. Really? F the Stones? But they are so good. As a fan of the White Stripes, you have to realize that if it wasn't for the Rolling Stones there would not be any White Stripes or other blues rock. They revolutionized music, more so than even the Beatles. BTW Hof, the Beatles will never crack my top 1000! And Drewbacca, you have some soul searching to do. The Altamont murder was the result of the Hell's Angel's and The Grateful Dead, the Stones tried to keep the peace. Plus, it's pretty cool they ended that set with 'Street Fighting Man'.
