1. Horrendous - "Anareta" (10/30/15, Dark Descent)
Hailing from Philadelphia by-way-of South Carolina, Jamie Knox, Damian Herring and Matt Knox are the leaders of the New Wave of Old-School Death Metal/Swedish Death Metal movement. Horrendous have dropped an absolute bomb of an album in 2015 (and only one year after releasing my #5 album of 2014; "Ecdysis.") Infusing elements of New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, Floridian death metal, thrash metal and progressive metal, "Anareta" has everything any metal fan could ask for. With lyrical themes of science fiction horror (see 1997's "Event Horizon") and album art H.R. Giger would be proud of, this landmark release is wrapped up in a package with a huge METAL bow. 2015 has been an unbelievable year for music, however Horrendous easily runs away with album of the year honors. An absolutely perfect album that ranks among the greatest albums of all time (metal or otherwise.) Cheers to you guys. Go 'Merica! \m/ \m/
